After-school Sunbeams

     This one time (yesterday), I wore a really cute outfit. And everyone told me how cute it was all day long. So I thought to myself, "Self, why aren't you doing outfit posts?" Then concluded that I probably should. So here's a lookie-loo!

Yes, you read correctly. The flowery "shirt" is actually the dress from this post and this post. It's just been magically transformed (read: tucked in)!

Taylor took all of these pictures for me (Best Boyfriend Ever Award goes to him!) and he liked that he caught my hair in midair. I think it's reminiscent of Pippi Longstocking's braids.

     It took me much longer than expected to get these put up -I had a little run in with files not uploading in their proper orientation and having to Google how to fix it. Now that I know what's up, I'll have another outfit post coming in the next few days, along with our Sunday date night post and possibly a craft. Hope you have a romantic Friday! XO.

Sometimes I'm Scholarly

     Our date last week was joyful- we stopped at Starbucks for a cafe mocha and a frappuccino for the boy and then drove to a park to stargaze. With our new-found astronomy knowledge thanks to our lab, we located Orion, the Pleiades, and others that I forget because, well honestly, it was really cold and we had Miss Pip with us. I would have loved to have actually taken pictures, but again, it was really cold. And dark. And did I mention it was cold? We snuggled for a bit and then headed home to chose this weeks date: Visit the Cummer Museum and Gardens! Except now we may have to reschedule because this week has gotten quite busy. I'd like to be able to make a picture-heavy, thoughtful post for every date, but sometimes life just gets in the way. (But isn't this what it's all about? Making sure we have such a wonderful time in real life, together?)

     Anyway, I wanted to post a link to another blog I'm contributing to for my Placing American Lit class. Our focus is on ecocritism and the environment in, as the book title so perfectly says "environmental writing since Thoreau." My first post is about our Week Three date! Click here! Blah blah blahdy, uh what?

I'm sick. Not dreadfully ill or anything, but my throat has been killing me, I've been ridiculously tired and (like most times when I get sick) my brain has ceased to function.

Example One: Amorous Squid Seeks Partner: Any Sex Will Do
     Taylor's car was broken this morning, so we had to carpool to class. Today that meant that I got to sit in on a couple of his classes and on the way to one, I picked up this newspaper. After class, he picked it up and read me the title of that article. I, being absolutely brainless by this point, SER. IOUS. LY. looked at the big picture of the dancer next to it and thought he was searching for a dance partner and that his name was Amorous Squid! How in the world I made that connection, I cannot say.

Example Two:  Not Really My Silly Statement, But Too Good to Pass Up
     Rihanna's "Cheers (Drink to That)" came on the radio as we were driving to get the boyfriend's car. Sarcastic Me: "Maybe I'll just go home and drink myself into a stupor and that will make me feel better. I'll drink to that- yeah-e-yeahhh." To which Taylor responds: "Well alcohol kills germs so it'd probably make you feel better." It made me giggle but I'd love to actually research it and see if it holds any truth!

Where in The World is Carmen SanDiego?

Example Three: Carmen Electra/SanDiego
     Well we're watching Attack of the Show on G4, and they show a preview of their interview with Carmen Electra where she is lifting her shirt up. Taylor had missed it so I go "Oh gosh, Carmen SanDiego is taking... Crap." and burst into a giggle fit lasting at least five minutes. It takes all of my willpower to stop laughing and explain to him, as he's going "What about Carmen SanDiego? Huh??", that I did not mean SanDiego and I definitely meant Carmen Electra. Why do I love him? He just goes "You do know Carmen SanDeigo wears a trench coat right?" Right.

Now I'm sitting in bed trying to control my out of hand social media- Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, etc. etc. etc. I know, such a hard life! I'm also drinking some delicious Refresh Tazo Tea and eating toast. Feeling better is kind of my top priority right now, my brain really needs that help. XO.

I feel like such a horrible blog Mommy!

  I've been neglecting you so much lately my darling blog. I've been meaning to update, but five classes and work on Saturday AND Sunday nights have me so busy. Plus this week was extra jammed: four hours working on my 2D project outside of class, hockey game on Saturday night, work work work, movies with the girls on Sunday, and then today alone I did three deliveries, two classes, and met up at Starbucks with Mamma.

  But enough of the jibber jabber! I am pledging right this moment that I, Skye, swear that I will blog at least once a week until Valentine's week. Pinky promise!

EDIT: Apparently my brain has gone to mush due to my first weeks of school, because I already recapped them for you. Oops! Tomorrow I plan to hopefully drag my laptop along to my classes; I want to see how well I do taking notes with it and also have it to blog in B&N. So until then, Au Revoir et je vous aime!

  Spring Semester began early Monday morning, so please excuse my lateness with updating. The final portion of my Winter trip was lovely; I spent the last few nights with Hunter and then headed up in my new car (!) to visit my grandmother. Mamma and I took a naughty side trip to LUSH in Orlando and coffee at the rest stop. We stayed in North Florida for two nights and then headed back home to our Peach State, only to find Brrrrr-y temperatures. My car has frosted over three out of four school evenings now, and I'm actually considering buying an ice scraper.
  And speaking of school, I'm quite excited about all of the classes I am in. Monday/Wednesday is English in the morning and then Philosophy in the late afternoon. English shouldn't be too hard, but my teacher seems to prefer Southern American literature, which I'm not too big a fan of (Tennessee Williams is my exception). Oh! and my Philosophy teacher? He totally falls into the Philosopher category. I'm talking shaggy long grey hair, scruffy beard, a geometric patterned old man sweater and a blazer! I literally giggled to myself when he walked in the room and was so giddy I had to text Hunter and tell him right away.
  Tuesday/Thursday are going to be my long, hectic days. 2D Design in the morning, French for dejeuner, and History to 1500 for late afternoon. 2D Design was terrifying yet extremely exciting. Our first project is about Abstraction through Simplification and (if I'm allowed) I'm going to use our university lampposts as my inspiration. French was.. intimidating. I'm in the second semester of it and they're beginning with Chapter Four, so I'm hoping I get my French book soon so I can try to review. (192$ is a lot of money right now!) I thoroughly enjoyed my History class and the teacher too. I'm SO tempted to call her Professor Moody (as in Mad-Eye Moody from Harry Potter)!

   And lastttt but not least today, I'm going to share a link to a super cute blog that I stumbled upon while eating my lunch. Search through the pages and find her entries about "Of the Universe"; I adore some of the things that she says and absolutely relate to being a "walking contradiction"! I'm pretty sure I've used that exact phrasing before, too. Without further ado, I bring you Lemon Soda:

Make way 2009: Twenty Ten is on your tail!

   Twenty Oh Nine was a big year for me, however cliche that sounds. In February my boyfriend of two and a half years and I broke up. In March I turned the big One-Eight. May rolled around and I started dating Hunter and graduated high school with Honors. The summer was full of firsts, like finally getting my driving license! Once Fall was here, I was enrolled at university and diving headfirst into college. Four classes and much procrastination later, I came up with straight A's. (Applaud here!) I worked my tail off at the flower shop doing deliveries and trying to make enough money to fund my less than swanky lifestyle. And now, it's already halfway through Winter Break, can you believe it? My new laptop and Grand Am are just two of the highlights of this vacation. But tomorrow night? Tomorrow night is New Year's Eve already. When I look back I realize that this year flew by me. Proof of this? Just look at my status updates from Facebook:

   My point is, this year was so exciting. So many things occurred and I was put into tons of new, weird situations. It definitely feels like Oh Nine was a learning experience, to say the least. Through it all, I've managed to come out on top and become a better person.
   What will Twenty Ten hold for me? I do not know, but whatever is in store will be worth it. I'm already planning ahead for the new year: five college courses, Spring Break, Hunter's Graduation, Maymester courses, work work work, the summer trip to Boulder, Sophomore year in August. I'll probably be busier than ever, but 2009 has prepared me for whatever comes my way. Here's to a fabulous new year! XOXO.

What was that?

I got straight A's my first semester of college? Well aren't I a smarty pants!

  First semester down, bunches more to go. Honestly, I'm just absolutely excited to start back up again come Spring. It was a pretty tough semester, but nothing I can't handle. Procrastination was probably too large of a theme this semester though. I pinky promise I will try better this next term! Straight A's should only be followed by straight A's... or at least A's and B's.

To show you my enthusiasm, I give you a list of Spring's classes with corresponding photographs (from WeHeartIt of course) and elaborate explanations on why I feel I need these courses: 

 Elementary French Deux: Well, it would make Madame proud, pour une. Et aussi, j'adore Francais. I took four years of it in high school, and I figure I shouldn't let that go to waste. Plus, France is in my top five list of Place I Want To Travel To, so I have to learn the language (at least enough to get me by and allow me to order du pain). I'm wishing and hoping and dreaming of heading to Paris in a few years to study abroad. Sigh!

Philosophy: Alright, really, I may just want to feel like a smarty. Oh you're taking another PE class? Well I'm in philosophy reading Plato and contemplating the existence of humankind. You know, no biggy. For real though, I'm fascinated by those hard questions and know I'll actually learn something in this class, even if the reading kills me.

English 1102: To be blunt and make a long story short: I have to.

World History to 1500: I kept debating between before 1500 and after, and finally settled on the former. Before 1500 just seems so much more interesting: Egypt, Greece, the Crusades, the Renaissance, etc!

2D Design: I am terrified of this class, I must admit. I'm creative, yes, but I tend to need inspiration. I'm scared the Prof will be all "Draw me an apple in a basket and then turn it into a computer design!" (complete with nun-like voice and possibly a whip, or at least a large ruler). I couldn't tell you why I'm so worried about it, I just have a feeling I'm getting in over my head. But! I shall carry on, for this is the class I must pass in order to take photography courses in the future.

  We shall see the week of January 11th whether my expectations were met (or surpassed, hopefully). I'll most definitely be writing a "How My First Week Went" article. Oh dear, it's one thirty in the morning again! Where do my days go? I'll be off to dream land now I suppose, XOXO.
