Disney Dreams

This is going to be pretty picture heavy, just a fair warning!
It's been over a month now since I went to Disney for Spring Break, and I'm dreaming about it more and more. Taylor and I bought Seasonal passes, so we're getting to go at least a couple times next month before our Blackout dates start in June. First with our good friends, and then with my Aunt and Uncle at the end of the month for Star Wars Weekends! We're super excited, but I figured I should probably give you all a better peek at the last trip before I go on the next trip!
My Aunt Mer and Uncle Dan and I arrived on Sunday and checked into the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which if you've never been is absolutely wonderful -the animals are so cute! Taylor was going to drive down that night after his rugby game in Alabama and my brother was supposed to head over that afternoon. Or so I had been told.
Birthday pin! Celebrating 21.
I was taken to the bar to get an Ecotini (best drink ever, btw) by my Uncle, which I found out later was just a ploy to keep me away from the front desk where my Aunt was getting our room keys. We got to the room, I unpacked and my brother, Cory, showed up. Him and Dan went back down to the lobby, or so I thought once again, and I started blabbing away to Mer about what outfits I was going to wear on what park days. And then, to my utter and complete shock and surprise:
My Mamma showed up!! I was seriously in shock, my family is a group of pretty terrible secret keepers, and somehow all of them kept from me that my mom had flown down from New York three days earlier and was surprising me for my birthday. It was absolutely perfect. Taylor arrived in late that night, and we had SO much fun all week. Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom were on our agenda. I'll stop gabbing away here and just show you pictures now...
I love this moment that Mer caught. He was in the middle of telling me how tired he was.
Wearing red, white, and blue for our Epcot day.
Taylor's favorite part of Disney- the Norway Pavilion.
A Skye-sized rugby ball!

I LOVE this picture, haha!
With our Seasonal passes! Too excited.
I have tons more pictures, but they're mostly of shows and random street signs/buildings and food. Yeah, a lot of food, the food is probably one of my favorite parts. Hopefully you enjoyed these, because I definitely enjoyed being present in them and I'm extremely excited to be back. Disney is just such a magical place, don't you think? XO.

The Ten Acre Woods

A few weeks ago I had a super wonderful, dreamlike week, full of Spring Break adventures, Disney surprises, and some quaint celebrations with family. It was just what I needed and I'm finally able to share some of the outfit pictures Taylor took for me! My cord conundrum is fixed and the pictures are here, so look forward to more memories soon.
These are all from the last day of our break, after my Uncle's birthday party as the sun was setting. My grandmother's Ten-Acre Woods are full of picture opportunities, so I made Taylor follow me with my phone camera and snap a few a million pictures. These are some of my favorites -that top one with Pip's little face peeking back? I swoon!
I love the look of complete joy on my face in this one. I love throwing leaves.
Hat, Dress- F21; Shoes- Ross; Key bracelet- Lucky Brand, old; Acai nut bracelet- came with my Eco-tini at Disney.
Barefoot is the best way to go. I lived most of my childhood like this.
Taylor and I are taking it easy and not doing much, as these next couple weekends will be pretty busy. We're making lots of changes and getting prepared to move in a couple months, find jobs, and, for me at least, take summer classes. So this weekend, we're keeping calm. Friday the 13th was a truly great day, which is weird because most people are frightened by it. I, however, seem to always have good days on Friday the 13th, and yesterday was no exception. My military ID picture came out perfect, we bought hot dogs from the nicest gentleman, had lunch with friends, looked at houses for rent, and then ate Thai food for dinner. Today I'm catching up on TV shows I missed and running a couple errands once Taylor wakes up from his after-practice nap. Hope you have a dazzling (and stress-free, if you need it) weekend! XO.

Happy 4th of July!

Mamma and I made a Fresh Market run and bought three cheese burgers, fries, apple pie and sparklers. Can you get much more American?! I'm super excited for it all. My only wish is that I didn't have 659874067843 things to do still before The Big Move. Only two more weeks! I don't have any pictures from this year yet, so I'll leave you with a couple from last years festivities.

Have a safe and happy 235th birthday, America! XO.

Dear Florida,

Sometimes, I really miss you. Scratch that- all the time I really miss you.

Growing up there, I didn't really appreciate you. The beauty of sunny days, of always being able to wear flip-flops even in "winter", driving over the causeway to "beachside" and seeing the vast ocean unroll before my eyes. Every time I go back to visit I relish in the delight I get from just a single warm, sunny day, a single peek at the waves, a single toe dip in the cool water. I roll my windows down and crank my music up and think "Gosh, why did I ever move away from this place?" So really, Florida, this is an apology. I'm sorry I neglected you when I lived there and I'm sorry I didn't realize how beautiful you really are. Now that I'm here in Georgia, I miss you. I tell people about Melbourne and "The Beaches" as if you were a long lost friend, one I greatly loved but sadly moved away from. I'm proud of being a Florida Girl and being able to say I grew up in a place that most people will only vacation to. Melbourne may not be famous Miami or the Keys, but it is still Florida and there is still the ocean and the Sunshine State and I still love you.

This is getting a bit depressing, so I just want to tell you that I'M MOVING BACK! Not to the exact place, but I will soon enough be back in your loving, albeit very hot, Florida arms. I'll be rejoicing in the fact that I will never (and this is a fact) be more than 60 miles away from a beach at any given time. Despite my paleness, the beach will be a sight for sore eyes. Florida, I love you. And I cannot wait until we meet again.

All My Love, Skye.
XO.

Make way 2009: Twenty Ten is on your tail!

Twenty Oh Nine was a big year for me, however cliche that sounds. In February my boyfriend of two and a half years and I broke up. In March I turned the big One-Eight. May rolled around and I started dating Hunter and graduated high school with Honors. The summer was full of firsts, like finally getting my driving license! Once Fall was here, I was enrolled at university and diving headfirst into college. Four classes and much procrastination later, I came up with straight A's. (Applaud here!) I worked my tail off at the flower shop doing deliveries and trying to make enough money to fund my less than swanky lifestyle. And now, it's already halfway through Winter Break, can you believe it? My new laptop and Grand Am are just two of the highlights of this vacation. But tomorrow night? Tomorrow night is New Year's Eve already. When I look back I realize that this year flew by me. Proof of this? Just look at my status updates from Facebook:

My point is, this year was so exciting. So many things occurred and I was put into tons of new, weird situations. It definitely feels like Oh Nine was a learning experience, to say the least. Through it all, I've managed to come out on top and become a better person.
What will Twenty Ten hold for me? I do not know, but whatever is in store will be worth it. I'm already planning ahead for the new year: five college courses, Spring Break, Hunter's Graduation, Maymester courses, work work work, the summer trip to Boulder, Sophomore year in August. I'll probably be busier than ever, but 2009 has prepared me for whatever comes my way. Here's to a fabulous new year! XOXO.

Happy Birthday To Youuuuu!

Happy Birthday, Cory!
My Baby Brother turned 16 today. I wish I could sit here and tell you a sob story about how we were the perfect siblings and always played well together, but that wasn't always the case. Cory and I, we used to fight like cats and dogs. I'm talking hair pulling, punching, kicking, the whole nine yards. It was always slightly comical though, because for years I was bigger than he was and could beat him up. Then all of a sudden one day, he had a growth spurt. Now, my little "baby" brother isn't such a baby anymore. The picture is almost a year old now, and since then he's probably grown another three or four inches. It was then that I realized he could beat ME up now!
Even though we did bicker a lot when we were younger, we quickly went right back to being best friends. Some of my best memories involve Cory.
SUCH AS: playing in cardboard boxes (minus the head injuries); straightening his bangs for him; beating up a much larger boy (more about that story later possibly) because he was threatening Cory; staying up late at night Christmas Eve telling him "No Cory, Santa is totally real" so he would still believe; trying to calm him down when he was drugged up on anesthesia and screaming profanities at the top of his lungs; riding the bus with him and trying to run to catch up to him when he'd yell at me for almost making him late; telling him stories about fairies that live in the air conditioner; snow boarding on the hill in our backyard and exploring in NY; falling into a stream while exploring in NY; stealing Ice Bat back and forth; "dancing" with him when we'd kick each other; playing on the dirt piles when the new houses in our neighborhood were being built; Puffy Stew; Cory asking me for fashion advice "Does this match?"; having his nose almost cut off, breaking his arm Pogo-sticking off a skateboard ramp, head injuries in a box, and always being there to make him better and pretend to be the Mommy.
I love my brother, and I'm so proud of him. He's a genius when it comes to building things and fixing things. He knows everything about military planes and loves to watch Spongebob and SouthPark with me. He's goofy and knows how to make me laugh when I need it, and he always tells me like it is. I hope he had a great birthday today. [: XOXO!
